DIRECTOR
Elaine is a conservation specialist with over 25 years of experience working in the care and repair of historic buildings, their adaptation, alteration and reuse. She has a Masters Degree in Conservation Studies from the University of York.

EMMA COCHRANE
M.Eng. C.Eng. MICE. CARE
CONSERVATION ACCREDITED ENGINEER AND DIRECTOR
Emma graduated from the University of Strathclyde with a Masters Degree in Civil Engineering. She worked as a Graduate Engineer in Glasgow before joining Blackett-Ord Conservation in 2015. She became a Chartered Engineer with the Institution of Civil Engineers in 2024 and became an engineer accredited in conservation in 2025.

Amy joined the practice in 2018 after graduating from Newcastle University with a Masters Degree in Civil and Structural Engineering. She became a Chartered Engineer with the Institution of Civil Engineers in 2025.

JAMES SMITH
B.Eng (Hons)
PROJECT ENGINEER
James graduated from Leeds University with a Bachelors Degree with Honours in Civil and Structural Engineering in 2016. He worked as a Graduate Engineer and then Project Engineer in Lancashire and Cumbria before joining Blackett-Ord Conservation in 2026.
He is a graduate member of the Institution of Civil Engineers and is working towards becoming a Chartered Engineer.

LEAD BARKITECT
Elsie joined the practice in May 2024 and leads our Barkitecture division with expert pawthority. She enjoys assisting the engineering team with site surveys and boosting office morale on ruff days.

MA Shredding
ADMIN ASSISTANT AND LEAD PAPER SHREDDER
Ida joined the practice in August 2025 as an integral part of our admin team. Her key tasks include paper shredding and recycling. She's very pawssionate about sustainability.
Ida also likes to accompany the engineering team on site surveys and getting muddy paws.
