ST PETER'S CHURCH PORCH
Repairs and conservation work to arrest decay to reused Saxon arch masonry in a grade 1 church. An initial assessment led to the insertion of temporary supports and non-invasive investigations with a consultant geologist, including identification of decay mechanisms within the local Ward’s sandstone. Repairs comprised removal of causal mortars, resins & ferrous fixings, minimum stone replacement and use of stainless steel pins.
All repairs and repointing were carried out in non-reactive hydraulic lime mortars.
