GLAZED NAVE SCREEN
St John's Church Silverdale
To reduce perceived draughts and decrease the volume of air within the church & improve comfort levels for users, on site monitoring and research commenced in 2011 initiated by a PCC member working with the Church Architect. The investigations stage was followed by the insertion of a temporary screen to test any environmental changes. The Friends of St John decided to support the scheme and agreed to fund the entire project. A lengthy development process including the commissioning of a local glass artist: the resultant scheme employs technically challenging solutions, & culminated in the installation of a new frameless structural glass screen within the west Nave arch.
